Getting to Poulsbo from Seattle takes about an hour, by taking a ferry to Bainbridge Island, and a short drive on Highway 305 to town. Diverstiy and Culture
The seven unique communities of North Kitsap, each with its own special beauty and diversity, offer a wide variety of activities and cultural opportunities. Historic Port Gamble, founded in the 1850s, boasts Victorian style homes overlooking the waters of Puget Sound. The land and people of the Suquamish and S’Klallam Indian Tribes are located within the North Kitsap School District. The City of Poulsbo has become a major visitor destination with its Norwegian heritage and its many unique shops lining the waterfront. In addition, events such as the annual Viking Fest, Holiday Fest, Arts by the Bay, and Skandia Midsommarfest attract thousands of visitors each year. Each community in Poulsbo/North Kitsap offers breathtaking views of the Olympic and Cascade mountains. Just north of Poulsbo, the Hood Canal Floating Bridge provides easy access to the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. In addition, a major regional shopping mall is a short 15-minute drive away in Silverdale, as well as a new major development being built in Poulsbo.

Education

Private Schools - There are three (K-8) private schools in the area, as well as additional ones in Bremerton and Port Orchard.
Post Secondary - Northwest College of Art (Poulsbo), Olympic College (Poulsbo Campus). In addition, there are limited, off-campus programs offered in the area through Olympic College and City University and off-campus programs at Naval Station Kitsap through Chapman University and Southern Illinois University.

An urgent care office is open weekdays 5-8 p.m., Saturdays 9 am. - 5 pm. And Sundays 12 noon - 4 p.m. (360-779-7011). The Doctors Clinic of Poulsbo located just behind the Poulsbo Village Shopping Center is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (360-779-4462) and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. - noon for emergencies only (to established patients). In nearby Silverdale there is a 24 Emergency Room as part of Harrison Hospital Silverdale, which is also a birthing hospital as well.
